LT and The Hope Chest resale shop host fashion show benefitting Constance Morris House

La Grange – Lyons Township High School presents “Falling for Fashion,” a fashion show benefitting The Hope Chest, an upscale resale shop associated with the Constance Morris House, a domestic violence shelter that provides safety and support for women and children in the western suburbs. The show is scheduled for Sunday, October 15, 2pm at the Lyons Township High School Reber Center, 100 S. Brainard Ave., LaGrange.

The event is open to all ages and will feature teachers, students, and LT alumni from all over the western suburbs, with models ranging in age. Tickets go on sale at The Hope Chest store and through board members and on the LT campus beginning Friday, September 15, as well as at the door. Student tickets are $10 and adults $25.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, so the event is being held to raise awareness of the problem and to raise funds for the House that offers support. Fashion show attendees will be treated to the latest fashions available in the store to demonstrate how stylish the local resale store can be. Both The Hope Chest and the Constance Morris House are run under the auspices of Pillars, the largest nonprofit provider of mental health and social services in the western and southwestern suburbs of Chicago, serving 10,000 people each year through direct client services.

The Hope Chest is partnering with Lyons Township High School for the show’s production, with LT students organizing and running the event.  The Hope Chest junior board member and LT junior Isabelle Sistino brought the idea to LT and is leading the efforts as event co-chair.

“For close to 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of being involved with The Hope Chest as a board member and now as the shop manager.  I continue to be inspired by so many in the community who support our efforts. I was thrilled at Isabelle Sistino’s idea to partner with LT. The synergy of this relationship brings great benefit to our community” comments Sally Kurfirst, The Hope Chest Shop Manager.

LT Principal Dr. Brian Waterman said, “We are excited to offer LT students a hands on experience to apply classroom learning in a real world application. So many people will benefit from this fashion show, allowing our LT family a chance to give back to the community that supports us so well. We look forward to having our students work together to make this event a success and host alumni and community members on campus.”

“It is our goal to raise awareness for our store’s mission and to raise funds to directly benefit the Constance Morris House. We want to encourage the community to remember us when they are donating items as well as shopping,” said Event Co-chair Jill Sistino, The Hope Chest board member and LT parent.
